Social Security Disability is the primary focus of our law practice. We represent clients at all levels of the claims process from initial claims filings to federal court appeals. SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY INSURANCE (SSDI) BENEFITS are available to individuals who are disabled and have paid FICA taxes so as to earn a requisite number of quarters of coverage within a fixed period of time. Benefit amounts vary depending on an individual's earnings. There is a 5 month waiting period before benefits can be paid. Auxiliary benefits can also be paid in SSDI cases.
SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME (SSI) is a public assistance program based on need and is payable to individuals with limited or no income and resources. SSI can be paid beginning with the month following the month of application. No auxiliary benefits are payable in SSI cases, although disabled children may be eligible for SSI benefits.
